METAPHYSICAL STUDENTS often forget a fundamental guideline which rules their dedication: Let go and let God. This spiritual maxim is the first level of awakening and realization of a spiritual life, as contrasted to a materialistic, mortal one. Anyone who has had the first glimpse of awareness of the spiritual Self, of God in action, of master prophets and teachers, knows this cosmic truth: I of myself can do nothing; only God through me works to bring about manifestation; the Father (I Am Self) and I are one. From out of this basic foundation all other things are built in spiritual dedication, love and services.
When it comes to personal dilemmas, impasses, conflicts, imperfections, diseases of the mind, body or soul where the individual is involved or trapped, he or she at times neglects to understand and to apply this mandatory principle of Let go and let God.
Psychologically this neglect or forgetfulness is not unusual, for it is not uncommon to have blind spots in our own situations or those involving our closest family, friends and associates. First of all, we do not always see ourselves objectively. Secondly, while in the midst of our own personal pain and fears, we may lose at times the ability to apply adeptly our knowledge and aptitudes, no matter how advanced we are.
For instance, is it not said that a lawyer who represents himself has a fool for a client; or a doctor who treats himself or his closest family members is nonprofessional in his diagnoses and is impatient with the treatments?
We all would like to think that when we are in spiritual work we have risen above those clichés; which are true, nevertheless. But our personal experiences and observations have demonstrated that certain aspects of human nature are carried over into even advanced areas of evolvement. Let us therefore examine this potential honestly, thoroughly and as objectively as possible. In this way we may be able to hurdle this stumbling block, to advance to a new level of spiritual growth and understanding, and to heal personal wounds and blind spots.
Turn to Christ Self
The purpose and the techniques of the Mark-Age program are to teach mankind to know about, to desire, and to connect with, his higher Self, the I Am or Christ Self. This is the Father which Jesus spoke of when he said, “The Father and I are one. Who sees the son, sees the Father.”
He meant that the personality and the mortal frame or body through which we work are extensions or creations of the spiritual Self. The Father is the creator. Our Earth expressions are reflections of the spiritual Self or Father only to the extent that our mortal minds and limited, human aspects do not block or color the true and perfect image coming from the Father or I Am level.
At Mark-Age we do not overemphasize our counseling, protection and instruction. For once a person has been made aware of his God Self within, the true teacher or prophet or master steps aside and allows that Self to become operative and predominant. Otherwise the student or the disciple is dependent on the teacher. Man must learn to listen to, and to be dependent on, his Christ Self, the Father within.
But we see through this glass darkly; at least we do so at first. Our patience and perseverance are for the purpose of continually and unceasingly forcing the student or the disciple to return to this fundamental guideline: The Father and I are one; therefore, let go and let the Father within do the work.
Our human, personal, emotionally uncontrolled or undisciplined selves color or distort our image of the perfection which is on the spiritual level. This blocks or prevents us from releasing our human frailties, desires, fears, overzealousness, intellectual reasonings and so forth; which need to be released if the higher nature and the spiritual faculties are to operate unhindered.
Following are three examples of personal or family conditions — out of hundreds of similar cases that have been brought to our attention in twenty years of spiritual counseling — which illustrate this point:
RECEIVING ONE’S SOUL MISSION: Some of the most advanced students, even ministers and teachers, have asked us: “What is my soul mission in life? What is my higher Self name and destiny? Where can I serve in the program? What spiritual or artistic talents should I concentrate on for this lifetime?”
Some students never think of asking their own high Self to reveal this to them consciously. For some unfathomable reason, they seem to think such vital, personal information rightly should come through a channel or a psychic reader.
Unless the person has worked on this conscientiously and without results for years in meditation and dream analysis, we invariably insist that he or she receive the guidance and the information directly from within. If our higher Selves reveal that an objective confirmation is in order through our I Am intunements, then we cooperate; otherwise we appeal silently to the I Am within the other person to break through the barrier to the subconscious or the conscious aspects of mind.
This can be amplified greatly through such collective efforts as our meditation network, whose purpose is to link together as many highly spiritual and dedicated light workers as possible to broadcast the same image and to decree simultaneously to world or group conditions. But we will not be able to accomplish this in this present Mark Age period and program if we cannot dissolve first and foremost the blind spots in our personal lives.
“Physician, heal thyself.” Each of us must remove the block or the boulder in his or her own demonstrations before we can expect to link together and effectively and unconditionally heal others and remove from the world the errors of mortal, human limitations.
GUIDING ONE’S CHILDREN: Parents who are Mark-Age members and supporters sometimes have asked for a soul reading for their children who are sick or unruly, unmanageable or delinquent. Actually, some are asking for justification of why that child does not belong to their level of spiritual development and dedication. They do not recognize that it is a golden opportunity for them to apply spiritual knowledge and powers, for which they are training as light workers.
Invariably we instruct them: turn to the child’s high Self. Through your own I Am Self, make contact with the child’s I Am Self. Ask that his or her I Am Self inform you of the problem, the methods for healing, the missing ingredient needed to reach a rational explanation or solution.
What would it prove to those parents for a channel or a reader of soul records to do the work for them, rather than their applying spiritual principles they have been taught? It is not Mark-Age policy to be the only source or connection to God and the Hierarchy. You have to do the work. We have taught the principles; you must apply them.
AWAKENING ONE’S SPOUSE: A marriage partner may come to us and complain that his or her spouse is not interested in spiritual literature or teachers; scoffs at interest in Mark-Age or the New Age or UFOs or meditation or any number of allied topics, even to the point sometimes of prohibiting purchase of literature and tapes, classes and other expenses, including making donations.
Our first question is: have you worked with the person’s high Self? This thought may never have occurred to many light workers, even students dedicated to group visualizations and to decreeing for mass conditions.
No matter how negative or ill or incompetent the mortal self is, the high Self knows the truth; knows the hierarchal plan not only for Earth but throughout this solar system; knows, and can direct how and when to break through to, the mortal impactions which frustrate the individual as well as that one’s relatives, friends and associates.
Forgetting the high Self or Father within any of our fellow beings is a gross attitude of spiritual pride and conceit, a sense of spiritual superiority. Such individuals are saying: “I am spiritual, but others are not; what can I do about it?”
You — the spiritual you, the Father within you — can do plenty about it. If you keep the mortal you — the selfish, superior-feeling human side — out of it, then the real you, the I Am, can converse with and can receive guidance from the I Am Self of any other being.
But because human emotions are involved and because ego preferences and evaluations — which, to some extent, are mortal judgments of others — are the dominant and directive force, you see through the glass darkly and find yourself at an impasse, a blockage, a negation or an entrapment. This is the way you build your own prisons, your own limited thoughts, fears, wrong evaluations and applications; you put bars around your freedom of expression.
Release yourself to the I Am. “The Father and I are one. Through the Father, I Am free, unencumbered, knowledgeable, healthy (whole and holy), able to receive the correct solutions to all problems in my life.”
The Father — or I Am Self, Christ or Buddhic state, Jehovah consciousness, whatever you wish to call it — is your personal connection with Spirit, the allness of creative energy and power. Let go of the limited mortal expression. Let God work through you as an instrument, an agent, a precious part of the whole. Help bring about spiritual changes. Be your I Am Self in action now.
